Emmaline Sommers was the daughter of the Supreme Commander of Oceania, Evie Sommers, and her husband Maximillian Sommers. She was also the older sister of Juliette Ferrars.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Emmaline was born a year before Ella. They grew up together and were incredibly close.
She has been held in captivity by The Reestablishment for twelve years for experimentation after her parents' discovery of her ability. Aaron Warner oversaw her torture two years prior to gain control of Sector 45, however he was unaware at the time that Juliette/Ella and Emmaline were related.
Restore Me[]
It is revealed that Emmaline and Juliette were planted in Warner's life as part of an experiment. It used to be Warner's job to torture Emmaline. Warner realizes that torturing Emmaline was one of the things he had to do to become the leader of Sector 45. He was sixteen at the time and desperate to be near his mother.
It is mentioned that Emmaline is a crucial piece of the Reestablishment. In Anderson's letter to the Sommers that Juliette finds in her desk, he explains that Emmaline's memory, like Juliette's, has been expunged. There are also several polaroids of her and her sister together.
Defy Me[]
Delalieu Warner reveals that Ella and Emmaline's powers are critical to the regime and to the continuation of everything they've been working toward. In fact, The Reestablishment was built with the promise of Ella and Emmaline. Ella is the Executioner and Emmaline is the Architect.

Appearance[]
Emmaline and Ella used to look almost identical. They had the same long brown hair. Emmaline had pure blue eyes. She was a few inches taller than Ella. Even as a young child there was something in Emmaline's eyes that was hard and serious.
Emmaline becomes almost unrecognizable as a result of being underwater for twelve years. She barely resembles a human anymore. Her mouth was stretched out into an "O," and her skin was white and shriveled.
Special Abilities[]
- Psychokinesis: She is extremely powerful with psychokinesis.
- Telepathy: The Reestablishment used Emmaline to make the world look like a wasteland so they could convince all the civilians that The Reestablishment could help them.
Relationships[]
Ella Sommers[]
Emmaline and Ella were incredibly close growing up. They used to always hold hands and often wore matching outfits. Emmaline held her sister's hand like she was trying to protect her.
Evie Sommers and Maximillian Sommers[]
Evie and Max have no love for their daughters. Evie believes that Emmaline is the "superior specimen" and is pure fire, while Ella is "doe-eyed" and "moony." Juliette was "far too full of emotion" Evie claims that Emmaline and Ella are her life's work. They were the greatest accomplishments of her career.
