Biography[]
Early Life[]
Adam has known Juliette Ferrars since they were children. Although he never spoke to her, Adam always defended her from the other children that bullied her and threw stones. Adam fell in love with Juliette when he first saw her. He is described by Juliette as a smart, brave, and protective, and has always believed in her innocence. His father abused him whenever he visited, and their mother had to hide her children away from him when he came. He is said to have thrown bottles at Adam, commanding him not to flinch. He eventually blamed him and James for the death of their mother.
Shatter Me[]
At sixteen, in an intent to take care of James and find Juliette, he became a soldier of Sector 45, where he learned how to survive and Kenji Kishimoto befriends him. When Adam figured out Warner was looking for Juliette, he volunteered to go into the asylum. Warner interviewed Adam for the job of being her cellmate in the asylum. Warner didn’t know who she was and had never met her. He hadn’t even seen her face up close. Half the reason Warner chose Adam to be her roommate was because she and Adam had history and Warner found that useful. He grilled Adam about Juliette for hours.
He was locked up in the asylum with Juliette for almost three weeks until they were released. During this time, Juliette discovers that Adam can touch her without pain. This is the first time this has happened in her life. Then, was designated to guard her, until they were able to run away by jumping from a window. After a series of occurrences, and Adam nearly dying, he, Juliette, James, and Kenji arrived at Omega Point.
Unravel Me[]
Adam's father is revealed to be Supreme Commander Anderson and that he is half-brother to Warner. Anderson blamed him for the death of his mother and repeatedly beat him. It was also revealed that Kent is his middle name, Anderson being his last name.
Fracture Me[]
Adam has become tired of fighting, being on the run, always having to risk his life, and constantly worrying about James. He just wants to go home and take care of James.[2] He feels like he’s much older, harder, and angrier now than when he first came to his home with Juliette.[3]
Ignite Me[]
Adam is first seen in his house hiding with a small group of rebels, the only survivors from the previous war. He is at first very pleased to see Juliette but, then becomes angry when she distances herself from him and shows preference to Warner when defending him. Juliette and Adam get into multiple fights which end up with him angrily storming out to take a walk and cool off. In one particularly bad fight he tells Juliette to leave and never come back. She then leaves with Warner and his friends soon follow suite. He eventually makes up with her when he is forced to move into Warner's training room due to lack of material. He is last seen coming back from the war and hugging his little brother James, smiling like he never has before.
Restore Me[]
Adam makes up with Warner after he asks them to talk. They talk about their younger brother, and their father as well. Before, Juliette notes that his condition was horrible and that he appeared depressed.

Characteristics[]
Personality[]
From a young age, Adam has been solely responsible for raising his brother James. As a result, he's loyal, protective, caring, and drawn to Juliette for her vulnerability and kind-hearted nature. He was shy as a child and never approached Juliette, only admiring her from a distance and guarding her from bullies. When Juliette is institutionalized, Adam becomes single-mindedly determined to find her again, clinging to his perception of her as a gentle, quiet girl in need of protection.
Adam is committed to protecting the people he cares about, though his methods of doing so tend to backfire. He has never told James the truth about their monstrous father, preferring to let him believe that both parents died in a plane crash. While this succeeds in preserving James's innocence, it also keeps him from getting to know Warner as a brother. Adam also makes the mistake of not telling Juliette about the experiments he undergoes at Omega Point under Castle's watch, which leads to Juliette nearly destroying the facility in a panicked rage.
Having been beaten by his father as a child, Adam has a hot temper and lacks healthy coping mechanisms. He tends to live in denial, as shown by his refusal to accept the breakup with Juliette and the revelation that Warner is his half-brother. When Juliette teams up with Warner, Adam lashes out in anger and jealousy, revealing a cruel, vindictive side of him that shows he's more like his half-brother than he cares to admit. Kenji describes him as "moody," with "no sense of humor," and "generally irritated."[4] Warner describes him as a “robotic, unfeeling idiot. His thoughts are so empty, so mindless; it’s like conversing with a desk lamp.”[5]
Ultimately Adam swallows his pride and fights alongside Warner's army to overthrow the Reestablishment, having accepted that he and Juliette weren't right for each other. Afterward, he settles into a relatively stable and peaceful life at Sector 45's military base, where he no longer worries about basic survival or providing for James. As a result, he mellows considerably and even reaches out to Warner after the death of their father. Upon the fall of The Reestablishment, Adam becomes a happier, healthier version of himself. He’s an entirely different person. He’s practically jubilant and is happy for everyone.
Appearance[]
Adam is alarmingly handsome. He is 5'11" and weighs 180 pounds. He is strong and muscular. He has dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. He is described by Juliette as having "deep blue eyes like a storm." He has military tattoos that are half sleeves on his arms to his elbows and a tattoo of a bird on his chest. He used to have an eyebrow piercing. He has a sharp jawline and a lean frame.
Special Abilities[]
Power Negation: Adam has the ability to disable other abilities. He can extinguish preternatural gifts. This is why he can usually touch Juliette without being harmed and why Warner is not able to sense his energy. However, the ability is not constant and can be turned off both through concentration or lack thereof. Adam's powers work as an automatic defense mechanism when he feels threatened, so as he becomes increasingly comfortable with Juliette, his instinctive shields lower and the pain of her touch affects him.
Relationships[]

Later, they grow apart and Juliette breaks up with him because she wants to protect him since they found out about Adam's ability. She states that she never ran away for "them," she ran away so she could be free. Even when she realizes she and Adam have their abilities under control, she does not get back together with him because she says there would have been problems between them later on, regardless of the fact that she was in love with Warner. Adam likes Kenji, even if they don't always get along. Their friendship deteriorates when Kenji repeatedly defends Juliette against Adam's jealousy. Kenji even punches Adam. He also holds Adam back from trying to fight Warner. After the events of Imagine Me, and Adam does some healing, their friendship recovers.
